Every year, budding startups and established tech companies in Austin face off for a a day of "grueling" athletic challenges called the Level Up Games. Employees compete in “Olympic-style” events like beer pong, flip cup, Liar’s Dice, cornhole, and more.
Team HomeAway was in it to win it this year and prepared for weeks in advance, practicing beer pong and flip cup into the wee hours of the night. Even President, John Kim, spent time sharpening his Liar’s Dice skills. The late night practices paid off because HomeAway placed in several events including ping pong and beer pong.
The best part about the Level Up Games is that all the money raised through winning events is donated towards a charitable cause. HomeAway raised $7,500 for SAFE Austin, a children's shelter and SafePlace serving survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse.
For those who didn’t compete, it was a great opportunity to have a couple beers, cheer on Team HomeAway, and connect with other tech workers in Austin. There were several yummy food trucks in the back for everyone to refuel between events!
