We took a few minutes to go behind the scenes with Kid President and Brad to talk to them about the ins and outs of their whole family vacations:
What’s your favorite place to travel? Why?
Brad: New York City. My wife and I try to go once a year. We’re from a small town so we like to go to New York to absorb all of the culture and the people. Robby: Los Angeles because it’s near the beach and I love to surf.
What is on your travel bucket list?
Brad: The wonders of the world. Robby: ....and Hawaii so we can surf!
What rule would you set for your next family vacation? e.g. no work allowed, ice cream every day!
Kid President Team:
- Everyone has a say in what we do.
- No Yelling
- Only use electronics once a day.
How do you think your family would react to this rule?
Robby: They’d be like “We don’t have to follow your rules! But we agree that we should stay off our phones.” (sassy face)
Why do you think vacations are important for families to take?
Kid President Team: There is nothing more important than meaningful, intentional time with people you love. It’s one thing to be at home together and do something there, but there’s a deeper connection that happens when you go on an adventure together.
Besides your immediate family, who do you most want to come on vacation with you?
Robby: Nicholas Cage. Brad: I actually second Robby’s answer, because then we could go find the constitution and really have some fun.
If you could take a family vacation that is as long as you want- how long would you travel?Brad: I think it would be super cool to be able to work half a year and then go on vacation half a year. That’s a pretty sweet life rhythm.
When you travel, what are the must have items that you pack?
Kid President Team: Aside from clothing and toiletries – we always bring good music, a good book, and good people.
What famous person would you want to take with you on vacation? Why?
Kid President Team: We’ll we would already have Nicholas Cage with us, which would be pretty cool, but we think everybody is famous. Our mom, she’s pretty famous in our eyes, our Dad, he’s pretty famous in our eyes. We’re traveling in a mini-van full of Rockstars – what more could you ask for?
What is your favorite souvenir from vacation?
Brad: Photos we come back with, because my wife is an incredible photographer. Robby: My dad always collects crushed pennies, we have a big box full of them at home.
How do you manage school when you travel for Kid President?
Robby: I’m homeschooled so school goes with me wherever I go.
How do you keep in touch with friends when you travel for Kid President?
Brad: We make friends everywhere we go! So that helps, every new city is full of new friends, some of which we haven’t even met yet.
Describe your best family vacation memory?
Brad: We really enjoy the vacations where we’re with the whole family. Every memory when you’re with your loved ones are the best memories.
What’s your favorite activity on vacation?
Kid President Team: Getting to spend time with my family, building memories that we won’t forget. Also, seeing parts of the world we haven’t seen before. And surfing!
What do you miss about home when you are traveling?
Brad: My own bed.
Robby: Yeah, my bed is super comfy.
