Halloween is undeniably our favorite holiday at HomeAway. We love our winter holiday parties, but what really brings us all together is our annual costume contest.
This year, participation was at an all-time high, as was the quality of each costume; however, some of the submissions had employees seeing double.
The Creative Services team dressed as the characters of the popular board game Clue and even went so far as to create a live game that other employees could participate in throughout the day. They left handmade Clue cards on every desk in the office as well as score cards to help participants play the game of whodunnit. However, the Customer Service Ops team also channeled the famous mystery crew, complete with their infamous murder weapons.
Also, the recent popularity of the game "Cards Against Humanity" inspired two teams to dress up as the playing cards for a humorous take on a Halloween costume.
And while typically the most difficult thing about the book character "Waldo" is finding him amidst a crowd, with three internal teams dressed in his famous red and white striped garb, you didn't have to look very hard to find him at HomeAway.
Ultimately, the accounting team took home the title of "Best Team Costume" going all out to embody a variety of different trophies. Our CFO Lynn Atchison even joined them in the fun donning a "Best in Show" blue ribbon with her costume.
On the individual side, Software Engineer Cade Parker took the top honors with his baby costume.
