Since the first Star Wars film came out back in the 70s, the series has amassed quite a cult following, with devoted fans of the Force eagerly awaiting each new release. Every year, these Star Wars fanatics gather to celebrate the iconic film saga on May the 4th, also known as official Star Wars Day. To honor the series this year, HomeAway found a few vacation homes where fans can kick it like Luke and Leia. These homes resemble planets from the original films, as well as ones from the more recent episodes, Rouge One and The Force Awakens, and the upcoming The Last Jedi.
Check out these properties that are out of this world, and May the 4th be with you, Star Wars geeks!
Filming Location: Maldives
HomeAway Location: French Polynesia
Scenes for the planet Scarif, the location of Rogue One's Rebel vs. Empire battle, were shot on a remote atoll in the Maldives. However, this HomeAway near Tahiti looks pretty similar with its lush tropical landscape and shallow waters that resemble the ones the Stormtroopers waded through.
Filming Location: Skellig Islands (Ireland)
HomeAway Location: Italy
The Force Awakens ended with Rey finding Luke Skywalker on the planet of Ahch-To, where scenes will again be set for The Last Jedi. The Jedi temple on the island planet (which is actually an old monastery IRL) resembles the trulli homes found around Puglia, Italy.
Filming Location: Croatia
HomeAway Location: Croatia
This house is on the Stradun promenade in the city of Dubrovnik, exactly where scenes for the upcoming The Last Jedi were filmed. The set designers transformed the entrances of the old historic buildings into the setting of what is rumored to be a planet called Canto Bight.
Filming Location: Jordan
HomeAway Location: Utah
This HomeAway’s location near the Grand Canyon strongly resembles the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, where scenes for the planet Jedha in Rogue One were filmed. The antagonist of the film, Krennic, orders the capital of Jedha (pictured right) destroyed.
Filming Location: Tunisia
HomeAway Location: Egypt
Throwing it back to Episode IV: A New Hope, the first film in the franchise, this pod home in Egypt bears a striking resemblance to Luke Skywalker’s home on the planet Tatooine.
Filming Location: United Arab Emirates
HomeAway Location: Morocco
Rey’s home planet of Jakku, featured in The Force Awakens, is a barren red desert with nothing but sand dunes for miles. This HomeAway listing is a desert camp comprised of luxe tents in the Erg Chebbi desert, which appears to be very much like Jakku.
HomeAway Location: California
The iconic Millennium Falcon spaceship that Han Solo piloted in the original films has been recreated inside the bedroom of a HomeAway in Anaheim, California. The room even features a painted depiction of fan-favorite robots C-3PO and R2-D2.
