Describe your weekday morning routine.
Snooze the alarm up to 3 times; get yelled at for snoozing; get ready; catch up on email & skypes all while my wife gets our kid ready for school. My background “music” can range from laughter and giggling to stomping, whining and crying. Then, we do our hugs & goodbyes, drop the kid off at school (hopefully during the time period where I can just drop him off thru the kid drive-through lane [it is exactly what it sounds like]. It would sure be nice if they offered some coffee as well. Then, I head to work. After 45-60 minutes in Austin traffic, I arrive at HQ.
What day of the year do you most look forward to and why?
There isn’t any one-day that I prefer over another except for those that are associated with lots of yummy food. If there was a single day or a set of days that I do look forward to, it would be the days with events in space, e.g. meteoroid showers, comets passing by, special planet configurations. I am not very knowledgeable about astronomy, but the world of space fascinates me.
What qualities do you value most in a best friend or significant other?
Honesty, respect, and good-natured.
What interest/hobby haven't you pursued, but always wanted to?Learning to play the guitar or the tabla. Those two instruments have always intrigued m because of the beautiful sounds they can produce. There are probably a ton of excuses as to why I haven’t pursued it, but the ones that come to mind are 1) I’m not quite sure I have any musical rhythm in my body, 2) it requires consistent focus and practice that for some reason I can’t find a way to allocate the right kind of time for, and 3) the guitar made me bleed once — she’s not very nice. Not a big fan of having to bleed just to play an instrument.
What ingredients would be on your perfect sandwich?
Let’s just be clear and upfront about this: I hate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. In fact, I started a Facebook page to help convince the world of its repulsiveness (30+ likes – oh yes, I’m starting a movement). On the flip side, my perfect sandwich would have to have jalapenos, fried shrimp, remoulade sauce, Cajun seasoning…. yum. I’m getting hungry.
