What's the best trip you've taken?
After college, Kyle and I spent three months backpacking from Sydney, Australia up the east coast to Cape Tribulation, and back, on a shoestring budget. We flew out to Australia with nothing except for our backpacks and bought a 1982 Ford Falcon station wagon for $600, which we outfitted with camping gear, a cooler and a surfboard. We had no set plans and limited funds, so we lived out of our car and it was one of the best adventures of my life! While there, we came in contact with dangerous wildlife, escaped a cyclone, explored national parks, surfed remote beaches, dove the Great Barrier Reef, and sailed the Whitsunday Islands. In the end, we were even able to sell our camper wagon for $2,600, which sponsored a three-week trip to New Zealand!

What's the biggest risk you've ever taken?
In October 2012, my husband, Kyle, and I, along with four friends started a brewpub, called Pinthouse Pizza, in Austin. This is definitely the biggest risk we’ve ever taken, especially when the stats say nine out of every 10 restaurant fails. I am not involved in operations, but Kyle changed his career (of architecture) to focus 100% on Pinthouse.  It’s been really fun watching the business plan turn into a reality and go from brewing beer in a garage to winning a bronze medal for our Blind Jake porter at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival.

What's the one meal you couldn't live without? Sushi.

Fun fact: Tori and her husband Kyle went on their first date to a sushi restaurant.

Do you have any pets?
Yes – two Boston Terriers, Posey & Willis. Because my husband is from the Bay Area and is a huge sports fan, Posey is named after Buster Posey from the San Francisco Giants and Willis is named after Patrick Willis of the 49ers.

What is your favorite song at the moment?
‘Happy’ by Pharrell. My one-year-old daughter, Claire, LOVES this song, and breaks out her dance moves every time it plays. It’s amazing! The other song I’ve been loving is John Prine’s ‘In Spite of Ourselves’.
