What is something that you had to learn the hard way, but it made you a better person because of it?
hen I was five years old, I tried to impress some kids down the street by drastically swerving my bike side to side, seeing how low I could go (think of a Moto GP racer coming around a curve). Instead of looking cool, I fell off my bike and tore up the side of my face and suffered a very minor concussion. My dad even had to pick gravel out of my cheek! But the experience taught me that it's best to not try to win the favor of others by superficial means.
What inspires you in your day-to-day life?
I'm admittedly biased, but I'm in awe of my wife's passion and ability to work 60-70 hours a week as a teacher, always with a smile on her face, despite dealing with ungrateful parents (the students’, not hers), a lack of resources and all the other challenges of public education.
If you could live somewhere else for three years, where would you go? Uruguay – South America seems like a beautiful place and Uruguay is emerging from its recent political and economical reform. It seems like an exciting time for the country and it would be a much different experience than living in the more established countries.
What was your first car? I've driven the same car since I was 16 (2002 Subaru Impreza WRX) and have no desire to get a new one.
What do you do to relieve stress? If I'm really stressed, exercise is always the best remedy. If it's just been a long day or week, playing a round of Call of Duty and a cold beer will usually do the trick.
